Ezra Bix, Zedeck Siew, Mantra, Nathan Curnow

This one was a corker. Ezra Bix did a stellar job off the bench as a last minute sub for a fallen comrade. Then the nervously charming and charminly nervous Malaysian writer Zedeck Siew read us stories, after flying all the way from KL just for this gig. After the break, Mantra showed why he’s one of the most versatile rappers in the country, taking to the spoken word stage with supreme confidence and skill. And to round it out was the incomparable Nathan Curnow, reading sneak-preview material from his yet-to-be-launched book The Ghost Poetry Project, and finishing the night with his wonderful epic poem ‘We Are All Made From the Matter of Stars.’ A veritable pin-drop moment as that piece reached its conclusion.
