Wordplay #32 and final
December 10 2009
Mantra, Eleanor Jackson, Robin Archbold, Briohny Doyle
Guest MC: Anthony O’Sullivan
And here it ends. The last ever Wordplay after three straight years. But what a way to go out. Four knock-out performances: Mantra in a supreme example of genre-crossing, Eleanor with a perfectly composed suite, Archie bringing the warm air of the north down to the frigid south, and Briohny closing us out with all the vibrancy and sass that makes us such big fans. This gigs should blow you away, and is a truly fitting send-off to what Wordplay has achieved over the last few years. Thanks to Anthony for filling in as MC while Geoff was overseas, and to Randall for assuming recording duties. Don’t worry though, there is a backlog of older podcasts yet to be posted, plus several gigs on video which will become available in the new year. The gig may be done for now but the site will keep exploring new ground, so keep your eyes on the web for whatever Wordplay happenings are going to come next.
Being the final Wordplay, it was an emotional affair. My take on the wrapping-up can be found by clicking here. And Mr Stephens himself also wrote a rather moving account which you can read here.
